gMovies; streaming option for Faith & Family entertainment

Disclosure (in accordance with the FTC’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”): Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. Choice of winners and opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I did receive a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post.

You know we cut the cable and satellite cord about 3 years ago now, and will never look back. We have added in a good antenna, and invested in a Roku. We love the flexibility it allows us to live as we choose instead of holding to a television schedule. Even our favorite shows don’t get watched right away- partly because even though we love Arrow and Flash on CW, the commercials they show during those times are inappropriate for my 8 year old and quite frankly I don’t like them either. Watching later allows us to not have to deal with that.

It can be overwhelming to find family friendly shows anymore. Especially if you want to have more faith based options. Netflix and Hulu have some options, which is nice, but it would be great to have a wider selection. I was given the opportunity to review a new streaming service for faith and family entertainment called gMovies.

About gMovies:

gMovies offers instant access to almost 300 faith friendly feature films of every genre, in addition to animated stories, television series and biblical documentaries. Always available on your computer or mobile device, gMovies also includes the bible-based animated series “Pahappahooey Island;” teen drama “Much Ado About Middle School” starring Bill Cobbs, Lee Meriwether and Amanda Waters; and the “Left Behind” drama series starring Kirk Cameron and based on the New York Times bestselling books by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.

gMovies is operated by UP, America’s favorite television channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, so rest assured that you are being offered the very best in faith conscious entertainment. The Parents Television Council™ has twice awarded its Entertainment Seal of Approval™ to UP for being “an authentic family-friendly cable network.” UP is the only television network to be so honored.

Thoughts and Tips

There are movies I am familiar with, and some I am not. There are over 300 movies and TV currently available with more being added. We enjoyed searching through so many options. You can find adventure, animation, comedy, drama, documentaries, and thrillers. You can stream from iPad, Android, or your PC and is only $4.99/month. There is no contract and you are able to cancel anytime. We found some that were like what you find on the Lifetime channel, some great tv shows for adults, and some cheesy stuff too. I like having another option to choose from.

FYI: The video player on the gMovies website is Adobe Flash Player based. You will just want to ensure that the web browser you are using to access is able to run the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. Also, to maintain the highest quality stream, please ensure your internet download speed is at least 3.0 Mbps.

Want to try it for FREE?? They agreed to give my readers a free 2 week trial. You can only get it here: gMovies free trial.

  1. Definitely sounds like something we’d be interested in because the commercials that play on tv now even on the kid channels are very questionable. We’ve pretty much stopped watching regular tv and stream kid videos from YouTube or watch the Veggie Tales bible movies on Netflix. Thanks for sharing. Will check them out.

  2. Thanks SO much for sharing this on our Simple Life Sunday hop at It is SO incredibly hard to find good quality anything these days. We too gave up our tv almost 10 years ago and do not miss it at all… It is nice to watch a movie together though and we struggle to find something family friendly even on Amazon – today’s pg-13 is equivalent to the R rated movies we grew up with. It saddens me, BUT I was really excited to see both the posts you shared this week with your book recommendations and this post. Looking forward to checking out gmovies… Be sure to come back regularly and share you posts each Sunday… Blessings to you and yours and thanks greatly for the information. Tam
